                           STOP THE SURGE
                             (GIUKBIT3)

Admiral George Bitterink was dead tired. The sneak attack on his
carrier group had taken its toll in men and ships; his carrier was so
heavily damaged that repairs would take at least two weeks.
Fortunately the Soviets didn't know he had salvaged the Roosevelt.
They thought her sunk. Now he had to go back to sea with a mixed
bag of British and U.S ships against a superior force. What a day.

Intelligence reported between twenty and thirty subs were making a run
through the GIUK Gap and a large surface battle group was going to try
to punch a hole big enough for the subs to escape through.

Bitterink didn't want to think about what would happen to the North
Atlantic convoys if enough of those subs escaped.

Somebody said that the start of the war was a mistake. Bitterink
didn't care. As soon as he could get off the defensive he was going
to make the bear pay. His staff heard him muttering "The bastards
attacked my ship". Now with little rest and a tired crew he had to
go and stop the surge.

------------------------------------------------------------------
"Stop The Surge" used the GIUK battleset scenario as a base. The
addition of a Nato carrier group and a large Soviet surface group
makes this scenario a little more challenging. I included a surge
scenario as this is the most likely event just after the start of
war. GIUKBIT2 is for those who won GIUKBIT1. GIUKBIT3 is the same
scenario for those who lost GIUKBIT1 and they must face the large
Soviet surface group without a carrier.
